Skating Lessons

Week 2 of my skating lessons. Since Dad bought me some hockey pants to cushion the falls I thought it was appropriate to wear my hockey sweater to lessons.

With pink pants of course.

Ready to go!

We are learning all about balance. We have to learn how to fall and get back up by ourselves.

I am a natural.

Hello everyone!

Meanwhile, back at the homestead......

We attended a birthday party for our friend McKenna yesterday. She had a swimming party and we had a great time. We got these cool goggles for swimming and Sarah has been wearing them around the house pretending she is a Super Sarah!

She is pretty funny and adorable.

To the rescue!

No kitchen pictures this week. We managed to finally find and order some tile, but we haven't made much progress. Updates soon!

Biker Girls

Spring is in the air and we have been outside for hours everyday. We love to ride our bikes together, especially now that we both have big girl princess bikes.

Sarah is just learning the art of a two wheeler, but she is picking it up quickly.

Of course Mom and Dad are nervous, but the girls are ready to ride.

Meanwhile, this weekend brought one more trip to Ikea since we discovered we had one cupboard that was the wrong size.

As of Monday the cupboards are in and looking great.

So excited to have a functional kitchen again.

Next up install the microwave/fan over the stove, backsplash, lighting and trim. The end is in sight.

Signs Of Spring

Last week the sun came out to melt the snow, the temperatures went up and we were all excited to get outside! We made straight for the park to go on a walk and look for signs of spring.

Although the walk was fun, we really just wanted to go to the play area.

Claire the archeologist discovers a dinosaur.

Sarah on her walk about. It was after gymnastics class so she was knackered by the time we got home.

The next day it was nice again so we met up with our friends Lily and McKenna at the zoo.

We finally got to see the mommy lion and her 3 new lion cubs born last fall.

So cute and big already!

It feels good to be outside with no coats or hats! Although mom was dismayed to discover how much our feet have grown. Looks like next stop is off to buy new shoes.

Meanwhile, back on the home front kitchen renovations continued.

It was a rough few days because we had no kitchen sink or dishwasher. We had a few days of take-out and doing dishes in the bathroom. Sarah was very into helping Dad.

By Sunday we had some cupboards and a counter top.

And by Monday - running water! Progress is being made.

Skate!

Our friends Kara and Tyler invited us over for pizza and skating this weekend. We had a great time. It was Sarah's first time on skates and the first time Claire skated without hanging onto dad or the boards.

Dad found that skating with two wasn't so bad.

Go Team Thomas.

Ready to hit the ice.

Sarah did really well and made it around twice before declaring herself exhausted.

Claire skating on her own.

All together now.

Claire starts skating lessons in two weeks so this was a great warm up.

Can I have a snack now?
Below are a few videos of our skating adventures.

Playdates and Earrings

This weekend my 'friend who is a boy' Jonas came over for a playdate. Since everyone had girls we only have two boys to play with around here. I promptly got dressed up and married him before he could be snatched up by the other girls.

Then I made him kiss me.

We got out the playdoh and had a great time getting messy.

The other news of the week is we hit the 6 week mark of Claire piercing her ears so we got to change the earrings. She is so proud to change them and show them off she makes me take a picture with each earring change. Here are the pink jewels.

Here are the flower jewel.

And the unicorns.

While the kids where having fun playing, mom and dad have been working hard on the kitchen. All the upper cabinets are up with doors and shelves installed. We bought a new range and are now starting on the bottom cabinets. More updates to come.

Olympic Gold!!

We are the champions! Yes, we have been watching non-stop Olympics for the last two weeks and we were thrilled with figure skating, hockey, snowboarding and curling.

We all had our Canada gear on for the big game last night.

Dad had to go to Canada for business last week and he brought us back these awesome Canada sweaters. Two thumbs up dad.

Claire thrilled that her name starts with a C, just like Canada.

Go Canada Go!

Claire made this great sign for her room last week. Love it!

In between Olympic sports we worked on the kitchen. We have finished endless sanding, mudding and painting. Finally time to start some cupboards.

We are installing tall cabinets that go right to the ceiling. By Sunday we had all the upper cabinets built and one wall installed.

Making progress....
