I Love Bugs!

While playing with our friend Isabelle in the backyard we encountered a large grasshopper. We thought it would be great fun to chase, hop and basically torture the poor fellow.

Sarah kept trying to grab him and hand him to Dad. After he hopped all over them and even down Claire's dress at one point we had to spirit him away to a safer place to be left in peace.

We made a little movie of the grasshopper fun for you to enjoy - especially listening to Claire squeal and run away when he hops the wrong way.

Splash Pad + Friends = Fun

This week we had a great playdate with our friends in Powell. We met at the splash pad, had a picnic lunch and went out for ice cream. Does a summer day get any better?

We thought the splash pad was awesome fun (It took Claire a while to warm up to it, Sarah was in from the moment we arrived).

We had great fun playing with the tree frog who hopped around the splash pad and entertained us all afternoon.

Claire and her girlfriends - Kara & McKenna hanging at the playcenter.

Sarah taking a splash pad break to warm up.

And back in the water.

Our friends Kara, Tyler and McKenna came to play and made our day!

The brave one!

Can't wait to go back!

Weekend Fun

We had a nice quiet weekend getting some chores done around the house and having some summer fun. First off on Friday mom took us raspberry picking. We had a great time filling our baskets and eating a few along the way.

See some did make it home.

Sarah's little paws picking a berry.

We weren't even bothered by the bees!

After all that work we had a little dip in the pool. Our new favorite thing is to take the Barbie dolls into the pool and teach them to swim.

Swim Ariel Swim!

Hanging like sloths in the tree.

Sarah is thrilled she is now tall enough to touch the bottom branch. So much closer to climbing up here without help from mom.

Time to get back to work. Here is Sarah learning the finer points of changing the oil in the car.

Mmm, the rewards of labour. A bowl of raspberry crisp and vanilla ice cream.

What a great, relaxing weekend. What's on the agenda next? Come back soon to find out.

Off To The Races....

This weekend we attended our first race at Mid-Ohio. Well, we attended qualifying and watched a some of a LeMans series race.

We met up with a few of our Honda friends which made the day much better. We watched racecars for all of 10 minutes, then it was time to play.

Our friends Dillon, Owen and McKenna sat with us and luckily McKenna brought colouring books!

After qualifying Dad bought us these awesome new shirts that we couldn't stop talking about all day! Of course we both picked Danica shirts because she is our favorite. You can't really read Sarah's, but it says 'Girls Rule'

Look, we did actually see a few racecars.

Mom brought lots of snacks to keep us occupied.

After watching some racing we decided to take a tour through the paddock. We were looking for the 'good' bathrooms because the girls are not fans of outhouses. We thought the paddock was really cool! We saw racecars up close and even a few drivers.

We are now experts at finding every picture or sign of Danica. Here we are in front of her trailer. We even got this random Ganassi team member to pose with us and act silly!

Look who we found! Of course Paul Tracey was willing to pose with a bunch of Canadians! Mom was quite excited about this - I was still looking for those clean bathrooms.

After all excitement, Sarah was exhausted and fell asleep while walking back to the car. We had a great time and are looking forward to going back soon. They are their mother's daughters - Claire is hanging her first racing poster in her room - because it has Danica on it of course! Sarah is hanging a Graham Rahal poster - not for the driver, but because he is sponsored by McDonalds.

Fun With The Cousins

This week our Aunt Michelle, Uncle Steve and cousins Tyler and Travis made it down to Ohio for a visit. We had lots of fun things planned for them and we were all exhausted each night. Above, Travis was nice enough to endure playing Barbies with us.

We made a trip to the ice cream store - Graeters which included a stop at the playcenter.

We went on a tour of the candy factory, sampled some 'buckeye treats' and bought a few to take home.

Playing the "I love you" game on one of our many car rides.

Sarah discovered that she is finally tall enough to go on some of the kiddie rides. She is officially addicted to the 'frog hopper' and rode it 11 times this weekend!

Mmmm Cotton Candy!

We made a trip to the state fair. It was hot, the lines were long, but they had a frog hopper so it was fun for Sarah.

Here we are at the zoo. They have a new exhibit where you can go touch lots of animals. Of course we loved holding hissing cockroaches - yuck!!

Look, another ride on the frog hopper.

Here is the girls going on a ride by themselves!

Dad got a great shot of Sarah's favorite - mommy and baby elephant.

Grizzly Bear!

Train ride around the zoo.

Snuggling with mom.

Petting a legless lizard.

More snuggles.

Mastering the puzzle!

We had a great time playing with our cousins, swimming, seeing the sights, going on rides and eating lots of junk. Thanks for making the trip down - see you soon!!
